For Your Safety & Security

If you are on a regular schedule of medications, bring them with you and show them to your nurse. Your physician needs this information as he/she prescribes your treatment; however, your nurse will give you the medications your physician wants you to have while you are in the hospital. Please do not take any medications from home.

Please do not bring valuables such as jewelry (watches, rings, etc.) and large amounts of money to the hospital. Please let your nurse know if you wear dentures or hearing aids so extra care will be taken not to misplace them. Please do not wrap dentures in a napkin or leave them on your food tray.

Cullman Regional Medical Center is not responsible for money, dentures, hearing aids, eye glasses, clothing or other valuables left in your room or on your food tray.

Valuables may be kept in the hospital safe, if requested. For more information, contact the CRMC Guest Relations Desk at (256) 737-2195.

Electrical Equipment
Please do not bring electric or battery-operated items to the hospital. Hospitals contain sophisticated electrical equipment which must be kept in flawless condition. Home appliances, such as radios, hairdryers, electric razors and coffee pots do not meet our required safety standards. Static electricity and sparks from faulty or untested equipment are a hazard to patients, especially those who require oxygen.

Fire / Disaster Drills
Periodic drills are conducted within the hospital to test our readiness for emergency situations, such as fire. Please do not be alarmed if you hear an announcement for a fire drill while you are a patient. These drills are necessary for hospital personnel to assure everyone’s safety. You will be notified by hospital personal should an actual fir or disaster occur.

Smoking & Tobacco-Use Policy
In order to provide a safe environment conducive to comfort and healing for our patients and in keeping with our mission to promote good health, Cullman Regional Medical Center has adopted a policy to be a "tobacco-free campus".

Tobacco-free means that the use of tobacco, of any kind, (cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff) is prohibited anywhere on the campus of CRMC. The campus includes any area inside the main loop road that goes around the campus. In an effort to provide comfort to our tobacco-using patients, we offer, with your physician’s approval, the nicotine patch, to help you through your hospital stay. We can also provide tobacco-cessation information.

All guests and staff must restrict smoking to outside areas. Guests may smoke in one of the smoking pavillions in the following locations (also indicated on the campus map below):
  • Across the road (Pitzing-Kress Circle) from the Emergency Services Department
  • Across the road (Pitzing-Kress Circle) behind Professional Office Building II

Hospital Security
CRMC provides security services for staff and patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week through on-site or on-call security guards. CRMC has some of the latest technology to assist in keeping you safe and secure while in our facility. One such feature, allows CRMC to automatically lock all external entrances to the hospital at 8 pm and automatically unlock those entrances at 6 am. Any visitors coming to the hospital between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am, must enter through the CRMC Emergency Department entrance.
