At Cullman Regional Medical Center, nearly 1,000 new babies are born each year in the Maternity & Nursery Care Center. Here state-of-the-art technology, 70 years of medical expertise and a warm, nurturing atmosphere combine to ensure a safe, comfortable experience for mother and baby.

CRMC Maternity & Nursery Center offers the following to new moms and babies:

Personal nursing care throughout your labor to support you and your family.

12 comfortable labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum (LDRP) suites that allow mothers to deliver, recover and recuperate in the same room.
2 post surgery rooms for moms that have experienced a cesearean-section delivery

The choice of natural childbirth or any available form of anesthesia.

The option to keep your new baby in your room or in the newborn nursery.

The CRMC nursery care center features:
      16 well-baby cribs, and can accommodate twins and triplets.
      5 advanced nursery care beds for newborns requiring assistance in transitioning into the world.
      2 isolettes for premature babies requiring extended stays to learn to feed and grow

Digital photos in the online nursery, hand-knitted caps and diaper bag for all new babies.

Special keepsake birth certificates with footprints for your memory books.

Prenatal Education Classes on childbirth and breastfeeding as well as tours of the Maternity and Nursery Center are available for all expectant mothers and their partners. Tours can be scheduled by calling (256) 737-2200.

The CRMC Foundation gives parents, grandparents, friends and other relatives a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize special deliveries. For a modest donation, a brass star engraved with a childs name and birth date is permanently displayed on our Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star mural located in the Maternity Center. Access to first-class obstetricians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians and family practitioners.

Board-Certified Pediatricians specializing in the care of high-risk neonates.

Double board-certified in Pediatric and Emergency Medicine Physicians in the ER should your baby need emergency care following discharge from the hospital.

All Registered Nurses are certified in neonatal resuscitation and maternity nurses are trained in specialized fetal monitoring classes.

Lactation counselors are available to discuss your breastfeeding concerns and can schedule outpatient appointments as needed by calling the Breastfeeding Help Line: (256) 737-2217.

Programs Currently Offered to All New Moms

Prepared Childbirth Class
This class is held one Saturday of every month from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This class educates Mom and her coach on pregnancy, labor, delivery, childcare and infant CPR. The class also discusses exercises, relaxation techniques and medications available to assist Mom with the labor and delivery process. Anxiety is caused from "fear of the unknown. Our goal is to decrease Mom and her coach's anxiety by giving them an idea of what to expect including a tour of CRMC's Maternity Services Center. The Prenatal Breastfeeding class immediately follows from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ($50 per couple; $45 per couple for WomenFirst Members). Breastfeeding Class
This class is to help Mom answer questions and sort through the myths about breastfeeding. It discusses the benefits of breast feeding for both Mom and baby, breastfeeding techniques, breastfeeding and going back to work and begins a support group for mothers choosing to breast feed. The cost is $10 which covers the class, handouts and book. Moms are encouraged to bring their breastfeeding support person with them to the class. This class immediately follows the Prepared Childbirth Class each month from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, but you are not required to attend the Childbirth Class in order to attend the Breastfeeding Class.
