Community Wellness & Health Education Classes


Cullman Regional medical Center is proud to offer a variety of wellness and health education programs to our community.  Below are some of the on-going programs we have available to the community.

Additional Health Education Programs are offered through the CRMC WomenFirst & SeniorChoice Programs.

Prenatal Education Classes

Prepared Childbirth Class
This class is held one Saturday of every month from 8:00 am until noon. This class educates Mom     and her coach on pregnancy, labor, delivery, childcare and infant CPR. The class also discusses     exercises, relaxation techniques and medications available to assist Mom with the labor and     delivery process. Anxiety is caused from "fear of the unknown. Our goal is to decrease Mom and     her coach's anxiety by giving them an idea of what to expect including a tour of CRMC's     Maternity Services Center. The Prenatal Breastfeeding class immediately follows from 1 to 3 pm.    
  • Cost:  $25 per couple; $20 per couple for WomenFirst Members and Free for Medicaid patients.

Breastfeeding Class

This class is to help Mom answer questions and sort through the myths about breastfeeding. It     discusses the benefits of breastfeeding for both Mom and baby, breastfeeding techniques,     breastfeeding and going back to work and begins a support group for mothers choosing to breast     feed. The cost covers the class, handouts and book. Moms are encouraged to bring their     breastfeeding support person with them to the class. This class immediately follows the Prepared     Childbirth Class each month from 1 to 3 pm, but you are not required to attend the Childbirth      Class in order to attend the Breastfeeding Class.

Therapy Pool Aerobics Classes

These classes provide conditioning, flexibility and strengthening in a heated environment. Water aerobics allows for exercise with all kinds of limitations such as those caused by arthritis, stroke, chronic pain and limited weight-bearing. Classes are held in CRMC's ONE Rehab Center in Professional Office Building I, first floor. For class times and fee information, call the ONE Rehab office at (256) 737-2271.


Adjustable LAP-BAND® System Education Seminar

The seminar includes an explanation of the Lap-Band® System procedure, information on nutrition and other lifestyle changes required for success with the system, a chance to ask questions about the procedure and information on insurance and financing options. Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This is a comprehensive outpatient program for patients who have recently suffered cardiac or pulmonary-related illness, which combines monitored exercise therapy with education. For more information call Rixie Smith, RN at (256) 737-2271 or (256) 737-2274.
