Therapy helps you recover from an accident, injury or illness as quickly and as safely as possible. Cullman Regional Therapy Services works with both inpatients and outpatients to restore strength, mobility and balance for patients. Each person receives a personalized treatment plan to meet your unique needs which may include one or more types of therapy, including physical, occupational and/or speech therapy. We also offer specialized therapy programs such as aquatic, hand, lymphedema or Parkinson’s (Big and Loud) therapy.

Our highly trained therapy staff will work hard to ensure our patients regain the highest level of function possible, so they can return to work, sports and daily living tasks after an orthopedic procedure, sports injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, neurological disorder diagnosis and more.

We offer flexible hours to accommodate your scheduling needs.

Our Services

Physical Therapy

Restore functional use of your muscles, bones and joints through any or all of the following: exercise, heat, cold, electrical stimulation and/or massage. Physical therapy works to relieve pain and improve strength, balance and mobility, as well as train the patient to perform important everyday tasks to return them to prior activities ranging from high-level sports to simple functional activities.

Occupational Therapy

Regain strength and independence through normal, everyday tasks and activities. Occupational therapy can also help people adjust to disabilities through adaptive equipment, orthotics and/or modification of your home environment to promote independent function.

Speech Therapy

Restore communication skills necessary for speech, language and voice disorders. Specialized therapy is also available for people suffering from eating or swallowing disorders (dysphagia). Our pathologist is certified in neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to recover and achieve swallowing function.

Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy focuses on the therapy of the hand and upper limbs to strengthen and improve range of motion following surgery, injury or illness such as arthritis. Cullman Regional is proud to have the ONLY Certified Hand Therapist in North Central Alabama.

Cardiopulmonary Rehab

Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a medically prescribed and supervised exercise program for people who have experienced a cardiac or pulmonary health issue – including people who have had a heart attack, heart surgery, documented chest pain, considered at high risk for heart disease or those who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The program is individually prescribed based on the patient’s abilities and increased as tolerated. Each patient’s blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm, oxygen capacity and overall response to exercise are constantly monitored throughout the exercise program.

Wound Care

Facilitates healing for a variety of wounds, including diabetic ulcers, amputation, burns, cellulitis and severe abrasions or cuts. Cullman Regional provides specialized wound care options to help patients heal more quickly.

  • Inpatient Wound Care
  • Outpatient Wound Care through the Cullman Regional Wound Healing Center

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a skilled treatment that uses a thin needle to penetrate the skin and the underlying myofascial trigger points for the management of musculoskeletal pain and movement deficits. For most patients, dry needling does not cause pain and the insertion of the needle is frequently not felt. It may provide a brief twitch response that is described as tingling, aching or cramping. For our patients, this treatment has resulted in decreased pain, increased range of motion and restoration of functional ability.

Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Pelvic Rehabilitation is non-surgical treatment for men and women to help address pain, weakness or dysfunction in the pelvic floor muscles. This includes conditions that contribute to bowel, urinary, sexual health and pain problems. Physical therapists at Cullman Regional are specifically trained to rehabilitate the pelvic floor muscles. The therapist evaluates each individual and develops a plan of care.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy uses the warmth and support of water to provide specialized therapy for stroke patients and for people with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, back pain and joint pain.

Industrial Rehab

A structured, goal-oriented program designed to help participants identify their capacity to perform work activities, regain functional skills and return to work after an injury.

Sports Rehab

A specific program designed to get athletes back in the game and performing at the highest level. Our therapists develop a therapy plan around getting you back to playing your sport as quickly as possible.

Lymphedema Management

An effective treatment for women experiencing swelling that sometimes occurs in the arm following breast cancer surgery. Our certified lymphedema therapists have been specially trained to reduce the swelling through therapeutic massage and the use of compression bandages to help control swelling.
